Hofbräuhaus:
Been there, done that. Over it.

This is the place in München Altstadt.
With the famous blue neon sign HOFBRÄUHAUS.

No designated driver necessary - last year we rode the Dahon bikes there from our digs on Tattenbachstraße in Lehel.

The ceiling of Hofbräuhaus.
Julien, Kirsten, Alex, Michelle, Steffi, beer, and beef.

Julian tried the Hofbräuhaus Hefeweizen. (Because, in Europe, kids can.) He wasn't too sure about it.
Flashback!
With the Hexemers, July 2, 2014.Everyone should probably do the tourist thing and go to Hofbräuhaus once. But it is a boisterous experience. It's really super LOUD. There are long tables that you share with anyone who needs a seat, which can be intriguing.
So after the Eisbach "surf session", Julian and I were both ready to scarf some hearty German food.
I asked for suggestions at SantoLoco - anything but Hofbräuhaus.
"Go to Augustiner. It's just around the corner and there you can eat really well."
So we did.
It started raining hard as we arrived.

Turns out that it's a Bierhalle,
just like Hofbräuhaus, just LOUDER.

Note the three guys with typical Bavarian Lederhosen.

Here's another one. Also, the checkered shirt seems to be a thing.
1.
3. Be patient with this one and watch the group carefully to see what happens.
4. When we left, we could still hear them around the corner and a block down! Turn you volume up for this one.
5. This was also happening as we were getting ready to jump ship.
This is one of my most favorite sounds in the world.
Well, it was a long day that started at 6 AM, and even though you might think that it's around 7 PM in the above video (at the time we were headed to some fluffy pillows and feather beds), but it was actually just before 10 PM.
All in all, it was a mighty good day.
Extra Extra!
Another crazy band of beer drinkers at Augustiner (not our vid!)
Apparently ARIS fans.

Puuuhhh, das war ja ein Tag in München!
